Jaydo was engaged to deliver the Rodds Drain Section 45 project to service the future growth of the industrial development in the Dandenong South area.

Works included installation of 1,100 lineal metres of drainage pipe including Triple Cell DN2100’s and DN1950’s along with concrete pits and large concrete wall end to suit. Being delivered next to existing wetlands and waterways, along with environmental protection zones in the vicinity, sheet piling was installed around the working areas to protect these.

key challenges

  • Due to the outfall being an existing wetlands and waterway, sheet piling was installed to keep the working area dry. Poor ground conditions at the outfall then required further ground improvements
for the headwall base slab including the removal of existing soft materials such was 200mm of compacted rubble, geofabric and FCR to meet bearing capacity.
  • An environmental protection zone was also situated next to the works site thus our crews had to be extra mindful of this when undertaking the works.

key innovations

  • Being delivered next to existing wetlands and waterways, sheet piling was installed around the works area for protection.
