Jaydo was engaged by South East Water (SEW) to design and construct the Cranbourne West Recycled Water Tank, to facilitate the quickly expanding residential areas around Cranbourne. Works included the civil development of a new industrial block, installation of a 2.5ML welded steel RW tank, as well as upstream and downstream pipeline connections. The tank was installed to ensure stable RW supply to the Cranbourne area, creating a local high demand supply store, and also prepared for future potential expansion on site.
Jaydo partnered with Saunders International during the early design phase to leverage off their considerable experience and expertise in developing a design that would meet SEW’s requirements.
The scope of works included:
- Construction of a 20m diametre welded steel tank including concrete foundations and steel roof
- Connections to the existing mains

Key innovations
- As part of the scope of works, Jaydo was to level the site and install suitable CT crushed rock to seal the site for general operations traffic. Jaydo focused on reusing soil from the site where possible before using only recycled CT rock.
- To allow for prompt installation of the tank walls and roof support columns, Jaydo pre-assembled the tank roof structures alongside the tank construction
- Jaydo used a custom scaffold system that lifted onto the top of the tank wall and moved around the tank with rollers which enabled higher efficiency welding, along with reduction in time shifting standard scaffolding
- An automatic welding process was used for the horizontal and vertical seams, reducing the number of personnel onsite whilst increasing productivity
