Project Value

$ 800k

Jaydo was engaged is to construct the Clifford Parade Stormwater Pump Station, as part of the Barwon Heads Drainage – Stage 3 works. The project is part of the overall drainage scheme to protect the Barwon Heads community from flooding. Jaydo has already played a significant part in delivering this infrastructure to the community.

Jaydo constructed a new stormwater pump station to replace the existing facility on Clifford Parade. The project will require the construction and commissioning of the new pump station as well as decommissioning and removal of the existing. In addition to this, works will be carried out within a live stormwater environment, and careful planning and programming of the works will be required to ensure all existing assets remain operational during the works.

The scope of works included construction of a stormwater pump station with three DN375 Flygt pumps and DN600 MSCL manifold, and construction of a storm water pump station complete with 4.5m deep wet well and valve chamber.

key challenges

Based on ground conditions detailed in the scope of work for the new wet well structure, a temporary sheet piling methodology had been used to ensure safety while excavating the shaft and protection of surrounding assets, infrastructure and the general public. As sheet piles were installed, diversion pipework was put in place to allow all existing drains remained open during wet weather event and upstream flooding did not occur as a result of the works.

Project outcomes

This pump station was delivered on time and budget with challenging ground conditions, in an urban environment, whilst maintaining the existing pump station to ensure the safety of the local resident’s houses from flooding.
