The new Colac Water Pump Station is part of the Colac Water supply upgrade project, to secure long term water supply to Colac. JAYDO were awarded the contract to build the new water pump station located at the Gerangamete Groundwater Treatment Plant. Works included:

  • Construction of the new pump station building including internal fitout, bridge crane and
    existing switch room alterations
  • Supply and installation of 3x 250KW inline vertical pumps, ventilation fans including complete
    fitout of the pump station, related pipework, support system and associated fittings
  • Electrical design review and preparation of detailed shop drawings of the switchboard and
    control panels
  • All electrical works including supply and installation of new 1250Amps main switchboard and
    motor control center with external 450Amps Danfoss VLT FC202 Variable Speed Drives
  • Complete system testing, commissioning and handover

  • Management of multiple stakeholders and different contractors completing the Colac Water Supply Upgrade
  • Planning around supply of free issued goods from Client
  • Delays in commissioning due to works by other contractors not being completed

Project outcomes

The project was well planned and executed with all major milestones met or exceed to the Client’s satisfaction.

JAYDO endeavored to utilise skilled local trades where feasible to perform majority of the pump station works and supply the required goods. This was to help ensure that work stayed within the local area and reduced the need to extract resources from across Victoria.

Client feedback

The Colac Water Pump Station was completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule with all major milestones achieved. The client, Barwon Water, was particularly pleased with the quality of the finished project, with only 1x non-conforming report raised for the duration of the project and no Lost Time Incidents (LTI’s) occurring.
