Yuroke WPS616 3rd Pump Upgrade

Yuroke WPS616 3rd Pump Upgrade

Greenvale, Vic

Project Duration

September 2024 to September 2025

Client

Yarra Valley Water

Project Value

$ 1.27m

As part of the Electrical Works Panel, Yarra Valley Water engaged Jaydo for the upgrade works to the third pump of Yuroke’s Water Pump Station, a critical asset to YVW’s network, with the three pumps servicing water to approximately 62,000 people.

The overall works include installation of a new pump, 3x VSD’s and upgrades to the electrical switchboard, all delivered whilst the site remained in operation and with all works planned and coordinated with the project stakeholders, including YVW’s project and operations team.

All electrical works were progressively carried out. The existing 3 pump soft starter cabinets were removed and replaced with new VSD cabinets, including working alongside YVW’s SCADA team to deliver the upgrades of the related PLC/RTU and SCADA. Shutdown and modification of the existing MCC was carried out in various stages to enable uninterrupted water supply.

key challenges

Vibration levels on existing pumps in the YVW network were a concern. Therefore, Jaydo installed and commissioned the new third pump to ensure vibration levels were minimal, as well as to cater for the supply
and network constraints. Extensive planning and coordination meetings with YVW and Melbourne Water ensured certainty of supply to their customers, with Jaydo working in accordance with these requirements.

Outcome

All works were successfully delivered and commissioned on time, which turned out to be in our client’s favour as the two other pumps experienced outages which would have led to YVW having no running pumps nor a reliant backup generator.
