Yarra Valley Water has upgraded the switchboard and motor starters at Pump Station WPS172 in Mount Evelyn, Victoria. The main objective was to replace the existing DOL starter panels for the three 200kW pumps with VSDs, enabling pressure control of the water grid while bypassing the reservoir. Jaydo worked closely with the YVW team as being a high demand pump station that was to remain in operation throughout the works. The upgraded system was delivered within space constraints, which included:

• A main switchboard installed outside on the north-western wall of the transformer room, housing the MEN link, supply authority metering CTs, fuses, a metering panel, and a weather protective canopy
• A motor control centre connected to the main switchboard and generator via an automatic transfer switch, incorporating feeders, motor starters, lighting and power distribution, and auxiliary equipment
• An ultra-low harmonic VSD cabinet with three starter panels, complete with switchgear, control circuitry, and motor isolators
• Three 200kW ultra-low harmonic VSD in separate cabinets complete with VSD protection fuse, control circuitry, motor isolators and suitably rated ventilation system
• Upgrades to the existing PLC, including new analogue modules, terminals, relays, control switches, and terminations to support the new equipment
• Coordination with the power authority for installation of a service protection device, power supply modifications, and new meter installation
• Replacement of all power and control cables, and additional cable support system
