Fyansford Rising Main & Feeder Main

Fyansford Rising Main & Feeder Main

Fyansford, Vic

Project Duration

June 2015 to February 2016

Client

Barwon Water

Project Value

$ 1.1m

Jaydo was engaged by Barwon Water for the supply and construction of approximately 2km of new sewer rising mains from the Hyland Street sewer pump station to Perry Court, along with approximately 650m of water feeder main.

Once completed, the new sections now service up to 1,100 new homes within the proposed development and support existing properties in the Fyansford area. The project involved both open cut works and trenchless operations, requiring Jaydo to ensure that access to and from local streets and private properties was  maintained throughout the duration of the project.

Construction activities for the Fyansford Rising Main and Feeder Main works included:

  • 1.4km of OD180 PN16 HDPE rising main pipeline by open cut methods
  • 665m of OD400 PN16 HDPE feeder main by open cut methods
  • 675m of OD180 PN16 HDPE rising main pipeline by horizontal directional drilling
  • 1x hot tap connection into existing pipelines
  • Air and scour valve connections
  • Commissioning of the new pipelines
  • Preparation and implementation of management plans

key challenges

Hyland Street was closed for the duration of 8 weeks in order to complete the feeder main works. Extensive stakeholder management was required and good relationships were critical to
successfully deliver this section of the project.

In addition to this, the 180OD sewer was constructed within a busy residential area, where local traffic had to continue with as minimal disruption as possible. All construction activities were  communicated to neighbouring residents well in advance and all activities carefully managed to minimise further disruption.

Client feedback

Despite the challenging environment, the project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of the client.
