Delivery of over 1,100m3 of stormwater detention capacity via Spel Chamber for the City of Casey to mitigate flooding in the local catchment area.
The scope of works includes:
- Installation of Spel Chamber (1,100m3), made up of 194 chambers & 26 end caps
- Installation of new drainage to connect the existing drainage infrastructure with Spel Chamber system, including 80m of DN150-DN600 PVC/RCP drainage and 5 drainage pits
- Concrete works including reinstatement of footpath and kerb within works area
- Installation of new perimeter fencing and bench seats within Harry St Reserve
key challenges
- Working within a built-up area with limited access in and out of site
- Planning for installation of a detention system liner, dry conditions were required for installation and welding of the liner
- Management of traffic and pedestrians along Harry St
Key Innovations / Outcomes
- At tender time, Jaydo recommended the installation of a Spel Chamber system in place of the original design, which allowed for installation of a light weight and cost effective solution
- Reduced risk of flooding along Harry St, and within Harry St Reserve
